Last week my hubby and I went to our local greenhouse to check out what they had for new plants. As we were wandering through the greenhouse we came across a woman buying cucumber seedlings. She had 5 seedlings in her basket and as we talked to her she mentioned she’d love to buy more cucumber plants but 5 was all she could afford.
It never dawned on me before that people actually buy cucumber seedlings. We told the woman to put the plants back and buy a packet of seeds and plant them right in the ground. She was so excited to learn she could actually sow these seeds directly into the ground and get all the cucumbers she wanted.
This is why I’m posting this article. Maybe there are other new gardeners out there who also are not aware that many plants grow from seed put directly into the ground.
